Yercaud is a hill station in Tamil Nadu. It is a beautiful place to live and work from, but the hilly terrain leaves the signal weak and patchy. I kept dragging my desk around the house chasing a better connection. Coffee shops in Chennai were hit or miss too: some had great WiFi, some were unusable.
A WiFi analyser is the right tool for this. It shows you where the signal drops and which channels are jammed. But every free one I tried played the same game: open it, sit through a full-screen ad, then find the real numbers blurred behind “upgrade to see real numbers.” The upgrade ran ₹500 a year, to read a value that was already mine.
So I built Beacon over a weekend. Signal strength, frequency, channel overlap, co-channel neighbours. All of it. No ads, no paywall, and it always will be.
